What is multi-action management?
Multi-action management (MAM) is a system for managing the implementation of ideas and initiatives for continuous improvement. The term was coined by the strategic transformation experts at Trainingsmanufaktur. MAM accompanies an idea from inception through to implementation. This process often requires the introduction of multiple smaller measures to ensure success — hence “multi-action management”. In MAM, each step in the process is documented transparently so teams can easily track the progress of an idea. Proven measures are standardized to ensure they are repeatable, and all stakeholders impacted by the new approach receive relevant training.
When should you use multi-action management?
When ideas end up on sticky notes that are left to gather dust on your desk
When enthusiasm for a new idea fades before you have chance to implement it
When your team has plenty of ideas, but lacks the necessary structure to implement them
What are the benefits of multi-measure management?
Ideas at a glance: The idea repository is a place to store your ideas centrally and securely. This way, no idea is lost. Even if a suggestion cannot or should not be implemented straight away, it remains in the idea repository, ready to be scheduled for a later sprint.
Standardized implementation: The systematic approach to idea implementation ensures sustainable success, including standardization and training. This allows you to approach the implementation of ideas in a structured and organized manner.
Resource management: Easily keep track of the necessary resources and manage who works on which tasks, when.
Focused work: The application of Kanban logic prevents too many ideas being worked on in parallel. As such, each idea receives the necessary attention required for its successful implementation.
Trackable progress: successful outcomes are not only visible to everyone in the "Celebrate" section, but can also be analyzed in detail using Reports in MeisterTask.
How to use the multi-action management template?
The multi-action management template allows you to organize your ideas and improvement measures into different phases: Idea backlog, Task backlog, Planning, Execution, Review, Standardization, Training, Celebrate
Step 1: Create or edit your tags
Tags allow you to show how different ideas connect to specific functional areas, topic clusters, and priorities. Each task can be assigned multiple tags. This is especially helpful when you have a large number of ideas, as you can easily filter cards by tag for a customized view.
Step 2: Invite your team members to collaborate
Multi-action management relies on all team members being able to view the progress of individual tasks and provide feedback openly. By inviting feedback from different areas of the organization, you can optimize workflows in the best interests of the entire team.
Adopting an iterative approach and making decisions transparently helps you implement new ideas more effectively. It also leads to more robust ideas, providing greater long-term value for your organization.
Invite team members via email link so they can add their own ideas to the board. To do this, go to the project settings at the top of your Kanban board and click Share.
Step 3: Add initial ideas for improvement
Start the improvement process by adding initial ideas to your Kanban board. Simply click the + symbol in the Ideas section to add a new idea (task). Each task will represent an individual idea.
Step 4: Start implementing your ideas
Automated checklists in each section of your Kanban board will help your team complete the necessary steps for each implementation phase.
After successfully completing all checklist items in a phase, simply drag and drop the task into the next section on the board. Repeat until the idea has been implemented successfully — and don’t forget to celebrate!
